Yes, I tried the device. It works well but could seriously use a proper external antenna on the WiFi side of things. It's also a little difficult to properly vehicle-mount due to its formfactor and how the card mounts in the unit. It (tgmb-8000) compared favorably speed-wise to the JunXion router as well as the Stompbox.

If you want ANYWHERE INTERNET(sm), This keylime box is a fair solution for you. It takes all the most popular wireless 2g and 3g cellular air card-modems and converts it to simple 802.11b WIFI. It's not the fastest or the most secure device but it sure is the least expensive solution on the market to date (feb 2006).

Compared to the Industrial MIS Grade TGMB-8000 3g evdo hsdpa wifi router, This Junxion box is about $150 less expensive. And on the upside, if you are a linux programmer, you can certainly modify the linux operating system to your specific needs.

On the down side, this Junxion box takes about 2 minutes to boot and connect where the TGMB-8000 takes about 8 SECONDS. The worst part of this comparison is that this Junxion Box looses about 22% of its bandwidth whereas the MB8000 only looses about 5% of its 3g speed in the translation. In anycase, the Junxion Box is reliable and gets the job done for $150 less than the MB8000. See Also: Kyocera KR1 EVDO Router
